Name
Panel Discussion - Smart Hospitals – Fact, Fiction, Future
Description

Proponents of smart buildings paint a positive picture of the benefits they can bring to their occupants.  In the healthcare setting, integrated machine learning/artificial intelligence, next-generation clinical and information systems, and smart building systems offer increased patient and family engagement, improved staff satisfaction, and enhanced workflows and processes.  However, these technologies can also increase complexity, negatively impact patient privacy and dignity, and introduce onerous support and operating costs.  What are the technologies that can enhance outcomes, attract and retain staff, and automate processes while limiting additional costs?  This panel, experts in the implementation of technology systems in the built healthcare environment, will discuss the current state of the industry, offer best practices and lessons learned from previous projects, and project the future of these technologies and how they will impact healthcare design and construction.
