Deb is focused on advancing innovative ideas that optimize our firm’s competitive position in the market, create new business opportunities and lead to design solutions that yield superior client outcomes. With a background rooted in healthcare, she also leads projects and teams, and has been responsible for more than $4 billion in design solutions for healthcare systems across the globe. From repositioning service lines for academic medical centers to introducing care innovations at community hospitals, Deb partners with organizations to ensure their infrastructure investments are aligned with an optimized business model.

Regarded for her ability to activate organizational change, Deb has advanced the core tenets of financial value and operational performance as key drivers of success. Whether advising global clients such as the Kuwait Public Institution for Social Security on service line distribution and asset portfolio assessment or providing growth projections and system level planning for large domestic health systems such as Kaiser Permanente, Deb focuses on bringing innovation to meet her client’s needs and as a result, is regarded as a change agent within the industry.

In a career spanning three decades, Deb has been honored for her evidence-based project delivery approach by the Joint Commission, Modern Healthcare and the American Institute of Architects. She has presented and taught at numerous industry forums, including the Joint Commission Resources, the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), the American Society of Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) and the Strategic Research Institute. She has published and presented extensively to organizations such as Building Design & Construction, ACE Building Summit, Building Innovation Summit, Advisory Board, Health Facility Management, Joint Commission International, Sg2, World Health Congress, ASHE, and The Strategic Research Institute. In the last few years, case studies of her work have been featured in publication such as The Wall Street Journal, Fast Company, Modern Healthcare, Building Design & Construction, Forbes and Healthcare Design.

Deb was the recipient of Building Design & Construction’s inaugural 40-und-40 Award Program as well as the Healthcare Design Top Twenty Making a Difference in Healthcare. She is a diplomat of the American College of Healthcare Executives, is active on the AIA National Academy for Architecture for Health, was a past committee chair of the Health Executives Forum, and the Women Health Executives Network. She is credentialed with Evidence-Based Design Accreditation (EDAC) and Design Build Institute of America (DBIA) Certifications as well as USGBC Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).

Before joining BDO, Deb was the Executive Director of Firm Strategies at CannonDesign and led the expansion of CannonDesign’s integrated design and construction capabilities, helping clients realize how a single-source design and construction method can reduce risk and help guarantee project cost, schedule and quality outcomes.
