Craig Acosta is the vice president for Delivery System Strategy for Northern California at Kaiser Permanente. In this role, Craig is leading efforts in Northern California to provide strategic planning and execution of the region’s clinical delivery system and administrative strategies, including the current care transformation work. He is also leading the continuing development of the regional sub-geo strategies that ensure capital investments are aligned with strategic imperatives. Specific objectives include supporting an outstanding member experience and an environment that facilitates the delivery of industry-leading clinical care for the future, while ensuring efficient use of the organization’s resources. Craig is working on major efforts to incorporate changes in care delivery prompted by the pandemic. These changes include increasing use of virtual care, remote work, and care at home. One of Craig’s priorities is helping with our Capital Plan Redesign work, sharing his insights in both Northern California and program-wide forums.

Craig brings a strong background and experience to his role at Kaiser Permanente. Most recently, he was a Principal for ECG Management Consultants. Prior to that he was a Senior Partner with Kurt Salmon. In both firms, he led the Strategic Capital and Facility Asset Practice. Craig led hospital replacement projects at UCLA, Stanford, UCSF, Providence Saint Joseph Health, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, and many other sites. In one transformational project, Craig worked with physicians, nurses, and hospital leaders at UCLA to develop the concept of the interventional platform (Surgery, Cardiac Cath, and Interventional Radiology all serviced by a single prep/recovery area). In his 30-year consulting career, he led over $15 billion worth of construction projects.

Craig holds an undergraduate degree from Stanford as well as MBA and MPH degrees from UCLA.
