Speaker Bio
Founding Principals of LEDDY MAYTUM STACY Architects in San Francisco, William Leddy, FAIA, and Marsha Maytum, FAIA, believe that architecture is an important catalyst for positive change in our society – focusing the transformative power of design on bigger challenges beyond the property lines of our buildings. These include creating low carbon, healthy and resilient communities, advancing equity, celebrating diversity, and fostering reverence for nature, history and culture. For over 35 years Leddy, Maytum, and partner Richard Stacy, have been national leaders in the design of regenerative architecture that integrates environmental sustainability and design excellence. LMSA focuses on mission-driven design for non-profit community, educational and affordable housing organizations. Their diverse portfolio includes both new buildings and the adaptive reuse of existing structures that promote climate action, community connection and social justice.

LMSA has received over 175 regional, national and international design awards, including the 2017 National AIA Firm Award. It is one of only three firms in the nation to have received ten or more AIA Committee on the Environment Top Ten Green Project awards. Leddy and Maytum have both served as Chair of the National AIA Committee on the Environment Advisory Group and Leddy currently serves as the AIA California Vice President for Climate Action and Chair of the AIA California Committee on the Environment. They have lectured widely and served as visiting professors at the California College of the Arts, the Southern California Institute of Architecture, the University of Oregon as Pietro Belluschi Distinguished Visiting Professors and the University of California Berkeley as Howard A. Friedman Visiting Professors. In 2017 they were the first joint recipients of the Ellis F. Lawrence Medal from the University of Oregon College of Design.
