Description

This course describes the best practices, methods, theories and approaches for integrating art into architectural spaces. It is well recognized that artistic elements in built environments transform and create memorable and uplifting experiences for users of the space. In addition to providing aesthetic enhancements, thoughtful and well-integrated art can increase value and introduce welcoming, place-making and iconographic benefits to the architectural space. We will review a variety of case studies, which demonstrate the benefits of integrating art in architectural and landscape settings. Techniques, approaches and methodology of art integration, along with best practices of adding an artist to the project team will also be discussed.
