In his role as Senior Vice President of Real Estate and Facilities, Sanford Smith heads the department’s responsible for the planning, development and operations of all facilities projects for Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian.
Hoag has been ranked the top hospital in Orange County for 5 consecutive years by US News and World Report and is one of only three elite hospitals in the United States to achieve high performance rankings in all 18 specialty procedures and conditions.
Hoag’s real estate portfolio consists of over 2 million square feet and includes a diverse range of facility types, including two acute-care hospitals, fourteen urgent care centers and nine health centers. Hoag’s facilities have received numerous awards for design and sustainable operations.
Prior to joining Hoag, Mr. Smith was the Corporate Manager of Real Estate and Facilities for Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. overseeing Toyota's North American expansion for nearly 18 years.
He is an active member of the Partner's Circle of the College of Environmental Design at Cal Poly Pomona and is the Chair of the Healthcare Design Mr. Smith was awarded the silver medal and inducted into the Tau Sigma Delta honor society for Architecture and the Allied Arts in 2018.
